Use ChrisX in Claude, ChatGPT and Codex

ChrisX is marketing software for small businesses and the agencies that serve them: Website & funnel, CRM & automation, Content & ads. Its promise: get more customers by copying what already works in your industry. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex and your AI does the work inside ChrisX for you. Every screen also works by hand.

What you need

  • A ChrisX account: Starter $97, Pro $297 or Agency $497 a month. Every plan starts with 14 days free: $0 today. Cancel before then and you pay nothing. Start at chrisx.ai.
  • Claude on the web, Desktop, mobile or Claude Code. Or ChatGPT on a paid plan, set up once at chatgpt.com. Or Codex, in a terminal, the Codex app or the ChatGPT desktop app.

Connect ChrisX to Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and find ChrisX. Click Connect.
  2. ChrisX opens. Sign in with your ChrisX account and click Allow.
  3. You are back in Claude, connected. Nothing to copy or paste.

Adding it by address instead (a custom connector): https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp. In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http chrisx https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp, then type /mcp, pick chrisx and sign in.

Connect ChrisX to ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT's plugins. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins. Click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Add ChrisX. Name it ChrisX and paste this URL. Pick OAuth, tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create as a plugin. https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp
  3. Install and sign in. Install ChrisX from your plugins. Sign in to ChrisX and click Allow. Then start a Work chat, type @ and pick ChrisX: the plugin must be attached to the chat.

On chatgpt.com, on a paid plan. On a Plus account ChatGPT can change things in ChrisX after you click Allow once. If your plan only lets it read, ChatGPT says so: Business, Enterprise and Edu let it make changes, and there an admin may add it first. No Plugins page? Open Settings, Apps, Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode and click Create app. ChatGPT asks before it changes anything in ChrisX: turn on remembering approvals for the chat, so it asks once and not at every step.

Connect ChrisX to Codex

  1. Install the plugin. In a terminal, run these 2 lines, 1 at a time.
    codex plugin marketplace add AI-ChrisLee/chrisx-plugin
    codex plugin add chrisx@chrisx
  2. Sign in. Run this line. Your browser opens ChrisX: sign in if it asks, then click Allow.
    codex mcp login chrisx
  3. Say it. Open Codex in a folder for your marketing and say Set up my marketing.

Without the plugin. Add ChrisX by its address, then run the sign-in line from step 2.

codex mcp add chrisx --url https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp

Or the config file. Put the first line at the very top of ~/.codex/config.toml, above any [table]. If you already added ChrisX without the plugin, replace the [mcp_servers.chrisx] table that is there, since TOML takes each table once. The first line lets Codex read a workspace that has a CLAUDE.md and no AGENTS.md.

project_doc_fallback_filenames = ["CLAUDE.md"]

[mcp_servers.chrisx]
url = "https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp"
startup_timeout_sec = 30

Codex on your computer (the terminal, the Codex app and the ChatGPT desktop app) shares one setup, so you do this once. Codex asks before it changes anything in ChrisX. The guide has a config that approves the safe saves once.

Fewer questions from Codex

Use this in place of the config above. It replaces any [mcp_servers.chrisx] already in your file, since TOML takes each table once. It approves 3 safe saves (your offer, your business details, a note), and Codex still asks before it publishes, sends, spends credits or deletes, and before it changes a page, since a page that is live shows your change at once. One line is optional: take the # off default_tools_approval_mode and Codex asks only for tools that change something.

project_doc_fallback_filenames = ["CLAUDE.md"]

[mcp_servers.chrisx]
url = "https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp"
startup_timeout_sec = 30
# Optional: ask only for tools that change something, never for a read.
# default_tools_approval_mode = "writes"

[mcp_servers.chrisx.tools.save_offer]
approval_mode = "approve"

[mcp_servers.chrisx.tools.update_business]
approval_mode = "approve"

[mcp_servers.chrisx.tools.add_note]
approval_mode = "approve"

Connect ChrisX to your AI

  1. Open your AI's connectors. Find where your AI app adds a custom MCP server or connector, often under Settings.
  2. Add ChrisX. Name it ChrisX and paste this URL. If it asks, pick OAuth and Streamable HTTP. https://app.chrisx.ai/api/mcp
  3. Sign in. Click Connect, sign in to ChrisX and click Allow.

Claude, ChatGPT and Codex have their own tabs. Apps on your computer connect this way (Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI), and so does Perplexity. Another web app may stop at the sign-in, because ChrisX sends sign-ins only to apps it knows: email hi@chrisx.ai and we add it.

Each person connects with their own ChrisX sign-in. Someone on your team sees only the businesses their role in ChrisX opens.

What to say first

  • “Set up my marketing.” Your AI builds your marketing in order: your offer, your website and booking page, your follow-up emails, your contacts, then your first content. It shows you each part and asks before anything goes live.
  • “Run my weekly update.”Last week against the week before (new leads, booked, showed, paid), your weakest stage, and the 1 next step: copy what wins in your industry, do more of what worked, fix what didn't, try 1 new thing.
  • “Make my content.” Your AI finds the shorts, posts and videos already winning in your industry and writes yours from them.

Ask for any job in your own words: your offer, your website, your follow-up emails, your content, your ads or, for an agency, finding clients.

What your AI asks you first

Your AI reads your workspace freely: your dashboard, contacts, pages and numbers. Anything that publishes a page, emails or texts a person, spends money or ChrisX credits, or deletes something is marked so your AI asks you before it runs. An email campaign also waits for your OK in ChrisX. When a job costs credits, your AI tells you how many first.

Your other accounts

Stripe, Google Calendar and Zoom connect inside ChrisX, in each business's Settings, Integrations (an agency's Instantly connects on Find clients). You never paste a key into your AI. When a job needs one of them, your AI gives you the link to connect it.

Disconnect

In Claude: Customize, Connectors, ChrisX, then Disconnect. In ChatGPT: remove ChrisX from your plugins. In Codex: run codex mcp logout chrisx. In ChrisX: Account, You, then Disconnect Claude (it ends every AI app you connected). Each one ends the connection at once.

If something goes wrong

  • Your AI can't reach ChrisX, or the sign-in fails: disconnect and connect again, and check that your ChrisX plan or trial is active.
  • Your AI says the ChrisX sign-in ran out: connect again. An unused sign-in ends after 90 days.
  • Your AI says a job needs a connection: open the link it gives you and connect that account in ChrisX.
  • Your AI says you are short on credits: the account owner tops up in ChrisX, Plan and billing.
  • Something looks broken: tell your AI to report the problem. It shows you what it would send and sends it to the ChrisX team only after your yes. Or email hi@chrisx.ai.

Your data

ChrisX works only inside your own workspace, as the person who signed in. It never reads your Claude, ChatGPT or Codex chats, memory or files. Sign-ins are stored as fingerprints only, never the token itself. What ChrisX keeps and why is in the privacy policy.
