ChrisX for Zoom

ChrisX is marketing software for small businesses and the agencies that serve them, with its own booking calendars. Connect your Zoom account and every booking on a ChrisX booking page gets its own Zoom meeting on your account. The person who booked gets the join link in their confirmation email and calendar invite. If the booking moves, the meeting moves. If it is cancelled, the meeting is deleted. Nobody copies a link by hand.

Connect Zoom

What you need

  • A ChrisX account. Every plan starts with 14 days free. See the plans at chrisx.ai/pricing.
  • A Zoom account, free or paid. The meetings follow your own Zoom plan and meeting settings.
  • Each business in ChrisX connects its own Zoom. The account owner connects their own business's. In an agency account, the owner or an admin connects a client business's Zoom from that client's Settings.

Add ChrisX to Zoom

  1. Click Connect Zoom. ChrisX opens on your business's Settings, Integrations, with the Zoom window open. Not signed in? ChrisX asks you to sign in first, then brings you there. (In ChrisX you can also open Settings, then Integrations, and click Connect on the Zoom card.)
  2. Click Connect Zoom and sign in to your Zoom account if Zoom asks.
  3. Zoom shows what ChrisX may do. Click Allow.
  4. You are back in ChrisX, connected. The Zoom card shows your Zoom email.

Starting from ChrisX's listing in the Zoom App Marketplace works the same way: its button brings you to this page, then to Connect Zoom.

Use it

  1. In ChrisX, open Calendars, then the Booking calendars tab, and open a calendar.
  2. Under Location, click Add a location and pick Zoom (made for each booking). The calendar saves by itself. Once Zoom is connected, a new calendar can start with it too: Zoom (a new meeting for each booking).
  3. Share the booking page. Copy link copies its address, and Preview opens it.
  4. When someone books, ChrisX makes a scheduled meeting on your Zoom account at the booked time and length, in the calendar's time zone. It is named like the booking: by default the calendar's name and the person's name.
  5. The person's confirmation email, their reminders and your own copy carry the join link, and so does the calendar invite.
  6. If they move the booking from their email's Change or cancel link, or you move it in ChrisX, the meeting moves to the new time and keeps its join link. If the booking is cancelled, declined or deleted, ChrisX deletes the meeting. Zoom sends no email of its own about it; ChrisX's booking emails tell the person.
  7. On a calendar that asks for your OK first, the meeting is made when you accept the booking.

Remove it

Either way ends ChrisX's access to your Zoom account at once.

  • In ChrisX: Settings, Integrations, the menu on the Zoom card, then Disconnect. ChrisX revokes its access at Zoom.
  • In Zoom: sign in at marketplace.zoom.us, open Manage, then Added Apps, find ChrisX and click Remove. Zoom tells ChrisX, and ChrisX deletes the connection.

What happens after you remove it:

  • ChrisX deletes the Zoom tokens it held for your account, your Zoom user ID and your Zoom email, at once.
  • Meetings ChrisX already made stay on your Zoom account. Delete them in Zoom if you want them gone.
  • Each booking keeps the ID and join link of its meeting until you delete the booking or your ChrisX account. To have them deleted sooner, email us and we do it within 30 days.
  • New bookings on a calendar set to Zoom (made for each booking) get no meeting until you connect again. If you are not coming back to Zoom, change that calendar's Location.

What ChrisX can see and do

ChrisX asks Zoom for 4 permissions and nothing else:

  • Create a meeting for each booking (meeting:write:meeting).
  • Move that meeting when the booking moves (meeting:update:meeting).
  • Delete that meeting when the booking ends (meeting:delete:meeting).
  • Read your own Zoom user ID and email, to show which account is connected (user:read:user).

ChrisX never reads your other meetings, your recordings, your chats or your contacts. It only changes meetings it made for a booking. It keeps your Zoom tokens encrypted, and it never keeps a meeting's host start link. The privacy policy says what ChrisX stores and for how long.

If something goes wrong

  • “The Zoom sign-in did not finish”: click Connect Zoom again and finish within 10 minutes, in the same browser.
  • “Zoom was signed in without every permission ChrisX needs”: connect again and allow everything Zoom lists.
  • A booking's place says Zoom with no link: the booking still went through. Open Settings, Integrations. The Zoom card says what Zoom answered. If it says Reconnect, click it and allow again.
  • “Only the account owner connects Zoom”: ask the account owner, or an admin for a client business.
  • Your company's Zoom blocks new apps: ask your Zoom admin to approve ChrisX in the App Marketplace.
